Our instructors are all different, with diverse lives, styles and backgrounds but what is consistent is that all of them are kind, committed and inspirational.
Hi, I’m Travis one of the coaches and co-owners of Northern Grit and NGF CrossFit. I completed my CrossFit L1 course and my National Coaching Certification Program “trained” status for coaching Weightlifting (Olympic lifts). I have over 20 years of coaching youth soccer, CrossFit, weightlifting and other fitness and sports activities. It is very rewarding coaching CrossFit and weightlifting, seeing people get stronger, healthier and reaching new personal bests. I live with my wife Rae and our 4 girls in Scotsburn. I hold a Bachelor of Physical Education(UNB) and Master of Business Admnistration (SMU).
I am one of the Coaches and Co-Owners of NGF CrossFit and Northern Grit Fitness. I am a CrossFit, Running, Hiking and Obstacle Course Racing enthusiast. I started CrossFit in November 2016 and quickly fell in love with the fun and competitive nature of the sport. I am very passionate about empowering others to maximize their potentials, both physically and mentally.
I have been leading group fitness classes for over 20 years including step aerobics, bootcamp, cycling and strength and tone. When crossfit came to Pictou County in 2016, I signed up for the very first fundamentals group and loved it from the moment I walked in! I became a certified CF-L1 coach in February 2018 and continue to learn and grow while coaching athletes of all ages and abilities. I love our crossfit family and I love watching our members challenge themselves every day. I mainly coach early morning classes, but can occasionally be found coaching or joining an evening class. I have a BSc in Computer Engineering and work full-time as an IT Solution Architect.
A little about me….. I have been running approximately 16 years competing in many races and events over those years. I have qualified and run Boston twice, top local female at the Johnny Miles Marathon twice, age group placed 2nd twice in the Valley Ultra 50K race and several local awards for placing in the top 3. I am a pacer (pace bunny) for the half marathon distance and enjoy helping others achieve their running goals. I have several level run groups I lead each year all starting with Learn to Run and running clinics for all levels.
